Video Interview: John Kassir, Voice of the Crypt Keeper

“Hello creeps!” Geek Smash Interviews John Kassir

John Kassir, is most famous as the voice of the Crypt Keeper from the popular show from the 80’s and 90’s titled “Tales From the Crypt.” But fewer know of his appearance on “Star Search,” where he edged out competition like Rosie O’Donnell and Sinbad to win the $100k prize for his comedy act. Between riding his Harley Davidson through the Malibu canyons and working on blockbuster films like “Jack the Giant Slayer”  and “The Smurfs,” John does voice-over work for shows like “Adventure Time” and “The Looney Toons Show,” and video games like “Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance” and “Marvel Superhero Squad Online.” He also likes to visit expos and events where he enjoys meeting his fans.

John Kassir is one of the greatest voices our day. One look at his IMDB page and you’ll ponder all of the times you’ve heard him and had no idea that this was the same voice you’ve heard for years as the Crypt Keeper from “Tales from the Crypt.” With a wide range of talents from acting, to comedy and voice-overs, John certainly has cemented his spot as one of the foremost talents in American entertainment.

How awesome would it be to see the return of “Tales from the Crypt” to our televisions each week? I say we start putting the word out that we want this show back. It was a great place to go every week and see the greatest talents of television and movies come together to bring tales of the macabre to the fans. And with the Crypt Keeper moderating we would surely have a great time. In fact, can you think of anything even remotely similar to this that’s out today that had close to the same viewing audience or effect that “Tales from the Crypt” had? This is one revision of a classic I wouldn’t mind. As long as we still have John as the voice of the Crypt Keeper, I’m all in.
